Help Us Support Trails

Supporting the Vail Valley Mountain Bike Association is a means to support the maintenance and construction of new soft surface trails in Eagle County.  Whether you are hiking, mountain biking, trail running, or equestrian we want to increase your access to trails and improve your experience in our beautiful home of Eagle County.  So please, help us help you.  There are so many ways that you, as a trail user, can support the trails that you are able to enjoy.

The first and most effective way you can help is to get your hands dirty by picking up a McLeod, pick, or shovel and joining the VVMBA on one of our Trail Crew nights.  We have a professionally trained and dedicated Trail Crew that meet every Wednesday night through May 31st and every other Wednesday thereafter.  They will teach you how to maintain trail, reroute potential water run-off, and hopefully how to build new trail.  The satisfaction that comes from working on a trail that you recreate on is second to none.  I can tell you this, you will never see a trail the same way after you’ve gotten your hands dirty and experience how and why a trail is built a certain way.  Plus, if you’re lucky, our Trail Crew may happen to have some food grilled up for all to enjoy afterwards!  For more info on Trail Crew schedule please check our events calendar on vvmba.org.

Can’t make the Wednesday night Trail Crew?  We have plenty of other opportunities for you to support our local trails.  On May 2nd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, the VVMBA will have its annual Spring Kick Off event at Vail Brewing Company in Eagle Vail.  This is a great way to socialize with other trail users, learn about our initiatives, win some sweet raffle prizes, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and of course enjoy some delicious craft beers.  One lucky winner will leave the event with a trip for two to Park City including two nights lodging, bike rentals, lift tickets, and more!

We want to engage our community through programs such as Adopt A Trail and even through programs such as our BIKE Vail Valley magazine cover photo contest. We need volunteers at events that support us like the Vail Craft Beer Classic which we are excited to be the beneficiary.  The Vail Craft Beer Classic is in Vail on June 16-18 and by volunteering at this event with the VVMBA, you are supporting our local trails.

There are many indirect ways you can support the VVMBA and our local trails as well.  These simple tasks include staying off muddy trails, using and teaching proper trail etiquette, and picking up any waste on the trail.  All of these actions helps us help you.  So please, if you are a trail user please consider giving back to the trails that you know and love.  We definitely appreciate the support!

The VVMBA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and community of diverse participants that vigorously supports the maintenance and construction of sustainable mountain biking and hiking trails throughout Eagle County. We coordinate volunteer trail work, organize events, train volunteer trail crew leaders, and contribute its talents, guidance, and time to support local land managers in various soft surface trail initiatives. Please find more information on our website; www.vvmba.org or give us a follow on Facebook.
